Strategy of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science for the 2020-2024 term

The mission and vision of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science are compatible with the strategy of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, recognising the priority of educating students as future employees in bioeconomy and food economy, in areas such as ​​food processing, food quality assurance, nutrition and biotechnology, on the basis of the latest results of scientific research.

In 2017, the Faculty was awarded the highest scientific category in Poland. As an educational and research unit capable of dynamically reacting to the changing internal and external conditions, it is recognisable both in Poland and abroad. It constantly strives to improve the quality of education and develop cooperation with the economic environment on the regional and national level in order to educate graduates who will play an important role in society by improving people’s quality of life and well-being.

By using the latest scientific achievements and innovative teaching methods to ensure top quality, the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science will continue to contribute to the prestige of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences in the next 4 years.

 

Strategic aims of the Faculty

 

  1. Extending the educational offer and improving the quality of the educational process in the context of the needs of the labour market and the knowledge-based society, taking into account the principle of lifelong learning.
  2. Increasing the degree of internationalisation of the Faculty in the field of didactics.
  3. Raising the educational competences of the teaching staff.
  4. Promoting the Faculty as an attractive place to carry out educational tasks.
  5. Strengthening relations with the economic environment.

 Course of action and methods of implementation

  1. Improving education in line with the scientific and research profile of the university by continuously updating the curriculum to reflect the latest achievements in science and technology.
  2. Increasing the degree of internationalisation in the field of didactics.
  3. Increasing the involvement in the process of educating highly qualified specialists (scientists and practitioners) from Poland and abroad.
  4. Systematically adapting the study offer to the needs of the labour market, taking into account practical education on the basis of the needs analysis of the socio-economic environment.
  5. Introducing innovative teaching methods, such as project-based learning, problem-based learning, tutoring and others, including individualised education.
  6. Increasing students’ involvement in research projects carried out in individual units or by the Leading Research Teams and Student Science Clubs.
  7. Improving the process of remote education, in particular by using the Faculty’s educational platform and cooperating with the Centre for Resources and Didactics Support.
  8. Optimising the process of obtaining funds to implement and maintain educational projects – the task of the Dean and the Leading Research Teams.
  9. Developing educational services for adults by extending the educational offer in postgraduate studies, courses and training, supporting lifelong learning and accumulation of achievements in accordance with the Integrated Qualifications System.
  10. Initiating and supporting academic entrepreneurship by involving the Academic Entrepreneurship Incubator (e.g. for start-ups) – implementing business projects carried out by students and graduates in cooperation with the Regional Product Centre in Pawłowice.
  11. Promoting the Faculty as an attractive place to carry out educational tasks.
